The Heart of a Family
We changed Kyli's name to Ellie because we thought
that was a gentle name for a gentle soul. Ellie had been abandoned,
and we think abused, by her previous owner. She showed the classic
signs of submissiveness ó cowering, rolling over, wetting, terrified
of men and strangers. She needed a special home, and she got one.
We love her so much and through that love and
patience and a quiet home (along with the three large cats) she
has come a long way in six months. She may always have some "special
needs" in this area since the scars of abuse run deep, but she has
learned to trust, love, and be loved. She's a "mommy's girl", much
to my husband's chagrin, since he's the one who wanted to get a
dog. I can't say enough about what she has brought into our lives.
She's the heart of our family, has taken over the den couch, snuggles
in bed (when she's allowed) and gets lots of playtime and exercise
in the yard and on long walks.
I can't thank Brenda, Jann and NCCR enough for
putting us together with her. I only wish we could adopt many more!
