Once known as "Pound Penny", this young mother's journey brought her from Alabama to NCCR. A wonderful group of volunteers transported a very pregnant Penny to safety. Not long after her arrival, the population in her foster home increased by 11. The puppies, which are also listed here on the website, are named after many of the transporters who give their time, week after week, to help so many dogs get to shelters that will give them a second chance.

Penny's foster mom says Penny is just wonderful. She is sweet and gentle and will even greet you with her unique smile! Penny is likely under 2 years old and given some of the old scars that she has, her life probably hasn't been the easiest. The old injuries are nearly healed, she has put on some weight, her pups are weaned and she will be ready for a home as soon as she is spayed. Penny appears to be housetrained too. She got along very well with Ginger who was recently adopted. Penny would be happy to be your devoted companion.

Penny will be spayed, vaccinated and microchipped prior to adoption. Her adoption fee is $190.00. (cash or check only, we are unable to accept credit cards)

If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an adoption application which you'll find under each dog's photo. If you are on Petfinder, you will need to go to our webpage at http://www.caninerescue.org/available-pets/ (just copy and paste that link in your browser). The application to adopt is in the very lower left hand corner of each pet's webpage.

We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopter must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in.

*PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide as if they are incorrect, we will be unable to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone so advise your references that there may be an unknown number or a private number calling them.

NYS Registration #RR028.
