The new NCCR shelter

Celebrate! Celebrate!

What do you see when you look at the photo above? We see a haven of love, comfort, safety and happiness for the abandoned, abused and unwanted dogs and puppies in our communities.

BrantIt's Official!

After two years of searching for the perfect place, the Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue has purchased property and an existing building on North Gale Street, Westfield. We're preparing to renovate the existing building into a shelter to provide a more modern, efficient environment for the dogs in our care.

A Better Place for All

Here's why we did it:

  • The new Shelter will bring hope and love to needy dogs and the people who care about them.
  • More dogs and puppies will have a better chance to find new, loving homes.
  • The increased capacity will enable NCCR to shelter more animals.
  • Newly designed kennels will reduce stress on the dogs.
  • Less-crowded conditions, isolation rooms, and a more up-to-date ventilation system will reduce the spread of disease.
  • Bright, roomy facility will create a more hospitable environment for both people and animals.
  • Special "interaction rooms" will provide a comfortable, positive environment for potential adopters to meet with animals and adoption counselors.
  • A large fenced area will provide a place for volunteers to exercise dogs, helping the dogs to stay healthy and well socialized.
  • Outreach programs will reach more people & strengthen bonds with animals.
  • The new shelter will also enable NCCR to enhance its education and outreach programs. These programs are beneficial not only to animals, but also to the people in our communities, whose lives are enhanced by the presence of animals and by a greater appreciation for all living things.
  • The new building will incorporate a variety of up-to-date design features to enhance cost-effectiveness, reduce energy use and facilitate cleaning tasks. These features will help control operational expenses and foster good animal health.

You Can Share the Vision

DawnTo commemorate your unselfish generosity and concern for homeless dogs and puppies, Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue wishes to make a public and enduring record of those who have invested generously to make possible the renovation of our new building. Opportunities available for your participation are:

Wall of Honor: gifts of $1,000 or more will be recognized on our Wall of Honor, to be prominently displayed in the new Shelter.

Named Giving Opportunities: donors can name a special room or area of the new Shelter with a gift of $5,000 or more (rooms subject to availability). †

Gifts of all amounts are important and will be gratefully received. Your gift is 100% tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law. If you'd like, your commitment can span a number of years and be paid in annual or quarterly installments. This option enables many donors to give as generously as they would like.
