The kennel before improvements.
A House Built with Love
The dream of the NCCR volunteers
was for a permanent building for the homeless pets in our area.
In 2002, our busiest and most exciting year ever, that dream was
realized.
We would like to thank all the wonderful
people who volunteered their time, energy and skills to help NCCR
renovate its new home. Without their tireless efforts, our dream
may not have come true so quickly or successfully.
Our deepest appreciation goes out
to our guardian angel, Mr. William Deet, who did the majority of
the renovations to our building as a labor of love. He put in 8
hours a day for weeks on end. His generosity, talent and dedication
to NCCR enabled us to expedite our move into a marvelously transformed
building. A million thank yous and tail wags to you, Mr. Deet!
Kudos, also, to Jack and Kathy Horst,
our long-devoted volunteers, who worked nearly every day of the
year, sprucing up the building for a speed occupancy. The Horsts
painted, patched, installed ceilings, assembled pens and performed
hundreds of other odd jobs to make NCCR's new facility what it
is today. Again, we couldn't have done it without their help. For
this, we salute and thank Jack and Kathy from the bottom of our
hearts.

The kennel after improvements.
We would also like to acknowledge
the rest of the dedicated NCCR volunteers: Tom Balsano, who rewired
the building, transformed the greeting room and laid ceramic tile
flooring; Vince Luce, for all his time spent painting, assembling
new kennels and performing many other tasks; and the many Board
Members, students and community members who willingly gave of themselves.
Also, a big thank you to local businesses
for their generous donations: J&J Excavating, G&S Masonry,
Pacos Construction and Welch's.
It would be nearly impossible to
list every person who donated time, talent or treasure to the new
building. Transforming a dream into a reality requires a lot of
good, old-fashioned hard work, and more than a little help from
our friends. We would just like everyone who was involved to know
that their help is tremendously appreciated!
