Marble

MarbleMarble came into our care when she was left in our outdoor exercise pen one night with her friend Lady. It was apparent that Marble was extremely bonded with Lady and looked to her for guidance and reassurance. Both Lady and Marble seemed to adjust to our shelter within a matter of days and things were going great. Lady soon found a new loving home of her own and left our care last week. Marble didn't seem to be too upset over Lady's leaving at first. However, we now believe that Marble is very distraught over losing Lady. She has lost her "security blanket."

You see, Marble was a little shy with new people but as soon as she would see how Lady reacted to a new person, she was right there greeting them herself! But now things are a bit different for Marble. She doesn't have Lady in the background telling her that new people are okay and will not hurt her. She is frightened of new people, standoffish, slinks back and gets that terrified look in her eyes. Marble is like a normal puppy her age with the volunteers she knows. She prances and dances around us, gives us kisses and is very happy. When someone new stops by, however, she is terrified.

Lady

Marble desperately needs to find a new permanent or foster home quick! She is young and with some proper socialization, she has a great chance of becoming a "normal" dog again. If she stays in our shelter and doesn't get socialized enough, however, we are afraid she may become unadoptable. Marble is mid-sized. She is not a hyper puppy, she's a smart girl and she is very clean (probably housebroken already). She is also very beautiful, both inside and out. This little girl has suffered enough.

If you have been considering adopting a dog, please consider Marble. She will need a patient, loving home where she can be introduced to new people at her own pace. If you cannot adopt at this time but would like to foster Marble, please contact us for more information on becoming a foster parent. Finally, if you cannot adopt or foster but would like to try to help Marble get over her fears of new people, why not make an appointment to just come up and spend a bit of time with her. Each new person she meets can help her to overcome her fear of strangers and increase her chances of finding a normal, happy life. That's one thing she really deserves!
