Phoenix Rising
Clyde arrived at NCCR suffering severe head
trauma. The vet surmised that, given his injuries, he was either
hit with a shovel or hit by a car. Many of Clyde's teeth were sticking
straight out (which had to be removed) and a large notch missing
from his tongue. That was only the beginning of his problems. He
was petrified of a collar, leash, the out of doors and had to be
carried around no small task as he was a growing boy.
Well, Clyde is now known as Phoenix. His family
writes:
"When we first got Phoenix, he wasn't potty
trained, barked all the time and was scared of everything. With
a lot of work, time and love he is housebroken, loves to take car
rides, walks in the park and hangs out with his big brother Tye,
a chocolate lab.
Phoenix has learned to sit, lay, shake and to
take treats nicely. He loves cheese, unwrapping gifts and cuddling.
His tongue has now fully healed and the vet says he is in great
condition. We just wanted to thank you for giving us the opportunity
to love this little boy and give him a good home."
One more thing needs to be added to this success
story: we can't think of many people who would have the patience
to work through all the problems they faced with Phoenix. We are
very grateful to the family for providing Phoenix with such a wonderful
home. This poor boy deserved the best after all he had been through,
and fortunately for him, Danielle & Chad gave him a second chance.
