Are you ready?

Responsible dog ownership starts before you even get a dog. A great deal of thought should be given prior to adoption because this is a commitment for life.

You should not bring a dog into your life if you are not prepared to...

  • Spend quality time with the dog
  • Make personal sacrifices in order to meet the dog's needs
  • Feed, groom and house the dog properly
  • Be forgiving if the dog goes to the bathroom where it shouldn't or chews the wrong things
  • Deal with dog hair.
  • Participate in training classes, if necessary
  • Treat the dog as a four-legged member of your family
  • Accept the responsibility as much as you accept the fun of dog ownership

Do bring a dog into your life if you are ready to...

  • Research what type of dog will fit your family best
  • Take the dog or puppy to obedience classes if necessary
  • Spend lots of time making sure the dog gets the proper socialization
  • Have a companion who asks no questions and makes no judgements
  • Enjoy the company of someone who loves you regardless of who you are
  • Come home to a presence that immediately fills the room with love and devotion
  • Make a lifetime commitment!
