On
March 23, 2000, we received an e-mail from a gentleman named Alan and
his wife Sandy from California, asking to adopt Sampson once he was well
enough. Here is a portion of that e-mail:
"I have owned Dogos for almost 8 years and currently
do independent rescue work out here in California for Dogos that occasionally
come up. My wife and I are very willing and anxious to help him (Sampson).
There is no glamour in this type of a rescue and I know it
will be hard work. I feel that he deserves it. I know you would like
to keep a vigile over him and I am willing to send pictures and call
often. We can offer him what he is in need of and deserves. There will
be baggage with this Dogo, and we are prepared and willing to handle
and live with this."
California! Well, we really didn't consider having Sampson
go to live so far from us. But Alan and Sandy sounded like the perfect
home for Sampson, since they already owned a Dogo and it was apparent
that they were experienced with the breed. Most importantly, Alan and
Sandy sounded like they would provide Sampson with what he needed mosta
permanent, loving home in which to enjoy the rest of his life.
