Baxter is a 4 year old Lab/Husky mix. He is housebroken and very well behaved. He won't beg for food while you eat after
he had his meal. He is taught not to get on beds or sofas (he just ocasionally tries his luck or your weakness!). When he
greets or expresses his joy, he will walk around you wagging his tail displaying a stuffed toy. He's easy to walk with a
pinch collar and will even walk or trot by your side with proper coaching. He enjoys car rides although he may whine at
times if he doesn't know where he is going. He is the kind of dog that is happy wherever you are and whatever you are
doing, he just wants to be part of it. A slow increase in the time left alone in the house is recommended initially and ideal if
somebody stays at home most of the time.
We recommend that even though Baxter did live with another dog, that he be an "only" dog in the household. It appears that
he spent a great deal of time alone, perhaps tied outside, so has not learned the same social skills that dogs attain when
they are exposed to people of all ages as they grow. He has come a long way since his arrival and would be most suited
for an adult home with an experienced owner as he did very well in his recent stay in foster care in that kind of situation.
Would you like to sponsor me? For just $10 a month, you can help with my expenses while I stay here at NCCR and you will
receive regular updates on what's happening with me. You can mail in your payment to NCCR, 7540 N. Gale Street,
Westfield, NY 14787 or click here to pay with paypal:
If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an adoption application (see below).
This avoids the disappointment of someone else has "beating you to it" because they were pre-approved. Processing an application
does not take us very long but we do insist that all potential adopters are approved before placing a dog.
Applying is very simple:
- Click one of the links below in the desired format.
- Complete the information requested.
- Save it as a file and e mail it to us.
