Pippen-Adopted!

Pippen arrived at NCCR on 5/24/21, surrendered when his owner moved to a place that doesn’t allow dogs. He is a 9-year-old male mixed breed, reportedly a Jack Russell Terrier mix. Per his previous family, Pippen does not like other dogs and is fearful of them, as he was once attacked by another dog. However, he has recently been making friends with neighboring dogs, so he may be able to move past his fear with certain dogs. Pippen did live with a rabbit and a cat in the past, so he may be able to live with other small animals. He is also reportedly fearful of small children due to being chased by a screaming toddler in the past. Given all of Pippen’s fears, a quiet home without children is strongly preferred. We’re also told that he does have some food guarding behavior, so care will need to be taken around Pippen when he is eating (this behavior can be improved or eliminated with proper management). However, he has not demonstrated any issues around his food bowl since coming to the shelter. Pippen loves to run around in the grass and go for walks. He can’t wait to find his true forever home!

If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an  Adoption Application.  *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far as processing your application before a home was found. We welcome you to apply again if you see another dog that interests you.   If you have a question, please email your question to adoptions@caninerescue.org. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email as we receive many phone calls each day.

We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopter must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in.

*PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide as if they are incorrect, we will be unable to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone so advise your references that there may be an unknown number or a private number calling them.

Pippen is kindly sponsored by Janet Kerr in memory of Barbara Turnbull, Judith Bidwell, Wendy and Joe Santilli and Heath Forster. Pippen is also sponsored by Meg Thering in memory of Jenny Henry’s cat Sphinx.  Thank you everyone!
