Why We Volunteer

When someone asks us why we volunteer our time at the Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue shelter, we, in turn, ask them:

Where can you go and have a bunch of furry individuals jump for joy when you arrive because they are so happy to see you? All they ask is a few minutes of patting, and perhaps a hug, and a walk on a leash if you can spare the time.

Where can you go and have two comely, hard working young ladies thank you for doing simple things like sweeping up, sorting donated clean laundry, putting dry dog food in the dog's dishes, walking a couple of dogs?

Where can you go in the evening and enjoy a sweeping view of Lake Erie and farmland and vineyards, and the wide evening sky?

Where can you go and feel that a couple of hours that would have been wasted on TV and are gone forever, have been put to a better use?

We can think of only one place, and that is why we volunteer at the Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue shelter. end
