Just wanted to share some pics of me and my friends Melody, Lily and our human companions from the day we participated in the MS walk in Fredonia recently. We did walk lots of miles and phew I’m an old man, so I surely did sleep well that night! A lot of people are so kind to help out us homeless dogs, so we wanted to do something to help out humans in need in return.
ADOPT A DOG DAY

Mugsy Visits Community Days
Mugsy, currently available for adoption, attended Community Days in Brocton on July 10th. He was a great representative for homeless dogs everywhere, just happy to meet anyone that stopped to visit with him that day. If you are looking for a smaller, well rounded canine companion, you just might want to meet Mugsy!
Abandoned Dog
“Sometime in the afternoon of Thursday, June 3rd I was abandoned on the doorstep of NCCR. I was put in this little crate, left right out in the sun. Yes, you heard me…right out in the sun inside a plastic crate. I was left with a bowl of water and food inside the crate with me, but it was VERY hot in there and I had drunk all of the water by the time someone came. Today I was taken to the vet to be examined and I have a terrible bacterial and yeast infection in my ears, but I have medicine to clear the infection up and soon I’ll be ready for a new home. To my former owner: Do you know that I found out it is illegal to abandon a pet? Why would you throw me a way like a bag of garbage? I may be a “just a dog”, but I have feelings too and I just don’t understand how you could do this to me.”
If you recognize this dog or can provide any information about him, please call 326-PAWS or send an email to adoptions@caninerescue.org.
Holiday Fundraiser Success
It was a beautiful summerlike day when Santa arrived on November 7th to pose with pets and their people for holiday photos . There were yummy homemade baked goods purchased, many winners of gift baskets from the Chinese auction and items gifts for pets and pet lovers alike at Barkers Bazaar. Our thanks goes out to all who attended to make this a successful fundraising event. All of the proceeds benefit the many dogs at the Rescue.
A special thank you to the firemen for the use of the exempt hall.

NRG Donation
When NCCR recently held their annual Pet Photos With Santa event they received a very welcome bonus to their fundraiser. Cory Leone from NRG in Dunkirk arrived with his family and presented the rescue organization with a check for $1500 ! He is seen here handing over the donation to LynnMarie Schroeder a volunteer with NCCR and Tessa, one of the shelter dogs.
“We are delighted and extremely grateful to NRG for their generosity” said an NCCR spokesperson “Without the support of businesses and individuals throughout the community, NCCR would struggle to continue with the valuable rescue work which goes on year round. This donation is so well timed as the economic downturn is currently making quite a negative impact on our resources. We hope people will still continue to support our cause despite the current situation.”
