Click here to see the adorable puppies !  We are currently accepting applications for these adorable Mixed Breed puppies.  Their momma is approximately 30 lbs., father is unknown.  The six girls and one little fellow will be ready for homes around September 15^th.  If you are considering adding a pup to your home, be sure that you have the time and patience to raise a puppy and can make the commitment for their lifetime. You’ve just adopted a dog, but you already have a feline in charge~can your new dog and resident cat live happily ever after? Here’s some help! cats-and-dogs-101   

“Hey folks, it’s me, Cruiser. I thought I’d give you a little update on
me. I had all my friends here really worried about me. Oh boy, did I feel
pretty crummy. I stayed right in my bed, ya know how nice that is sometimes when everything aches and nothing is the way it ought to be. Believe it or not, there were a few days when I didn’t even want a burger from you know where, now that means I must have been in pretty bad shape. These folks here sure did take good care of me, I overheard them talking and they were wondering whether I was going to make it or not, but I showed them, I’m a tough old guy. Anyway, I’m on the mend and back to running the shelter but that doesn’t mean that I wouldn’t love to have a visit, and well you’re at it, I’m back to eating the burgers again.”

Just wanted to share some pics of me and my friends Melody, Lily and our human companions from the day we participated in the MS walk in Fredonia recently. We did walk lots of miles and phew I’m an old man, so I surely did sleep well that night!  A lot of people are so kind to help out us homeless dogs, so we wanted to do something to help out humans in need in return.    

I may not live in a house with one family like most dogs, but I am lucky to stay at NCCR because instead I have a HUGE family and so many friends who care about me.  Thank you to all my sponsors and caregivers, you are the best!

            Hi! How have you been doing?  I have a booklet of coupons for hamburgers and cheeseburgers; do you want me to send it to you??? My dog, Ebony, would probably be too rowdy for an aging gentleman like you! She’s a year and half old. Ebony is very good-natured and I like to play with her a lot.

            You are the best 98 year old dog in dog years that I know. Even though you’re old, I’m still your friend! We are BFF. I hope the canine rescue is taking good care of you.  I like the other pictures of you that you gave to us in the past.

For the many families that have given their hearts and homes to a dog that has additional needs, we are eternally grateful for your patience, love and compassion. Not every dog is for everyone, but these special dogs, even with their limitations, are that dog for a special someone.

When dogs are described as senior, elderly or old, their chances of adoption diminish. In shelters all across the country, these are the dogs that are often the first to be euthanized due to space constraints.   In truth, these mature dogs often make the best companions as what you see is what you get…they have already grown into their shape and personality. In return for the second chance they are given, they will reward you unconditional love and loyalty.
