Fostering a Shelter Dog

NCCR is always in need of foster homes. Thank you for considering opening your home to one of our dogs in need. (Please note: Fosters must be close enough and willing to bring dogs in for meet and greets or local vet visits.)

Dogs who have lost their home when their caregiver dies or because of a change in family circumstances, struggle being without their loved ones while they try to adjust to their new way of life. Foster families help ease this anxiety and prepare them for their next journey. During this transition, it’s important to ensure the dog’s health and well-being, including protection from flea tick infestations, to keep them comfortable and ready for their new home.

Most frequently, we need homes for the puppy mill dogs that we are able to take in when we have space available. These are dogs that may otherwise be killed at the hands of their owners when they are no longer cute little puppies that puppy millers can sell or are no longer useful for breeding.  We prefer to place these dogs in foster homes whenever possible.
