Copper arrived at NCCR on 12/3/22, surrendered due to being too active, and the resident senior dogs in the home disliking him. He is an 8 month old German Shorthair Pointer (mix?) puppy. We’re told that Copper is housetrained and crate trained, knows some basic commands, and walks on a leash. He must be crated when left alone because he will chew things he shouldn’t. He is reportedly good with other dogs, rides well in the car, and is friendly to everybody. Copper is a young dog who requires a significant amount of vigorous exercise every day to burn off energy and keep him happy. He can be very vocal at times, and needs room to run around, so a rural home would be ideal for Copper. As with all puppies, he will need a family that can provide substantial exercise, playtime, and training every day, as well as plenty of patience and love to help him become the best dog he can be.
More info to come as we get to know him better!
If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an Adoption Application. After you have completed your application, you will immediately get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far as processing your application before a home was found. We welcome you to apply again if you see another dog that interests you. If you have a question, please email your question to email@example.com. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email as we receive many phone calls each day. Completing an application does not commit you to adopt, but please be sure that you are serious about adopting and have the time and patience to raise a puppy before you apply.
We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopter must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in.
*PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide as if they are incorrect, we will be unable to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone so advise your references that there may be an unknown number or a private number calling them.
