It has been quite a ride these last few weeks, getting Gypsy settled in. We have changed her name to Ginger, going with “Gingy” to help her transition. She’s one SMART dog! She learned our schedule quickly, has picked up on verbal and hand signals well, and found her voice. Gingy borks lol. We bought her a food maze which didn’t take her long to figure out.
She is WONDERFUL with the grandkids. They didn’t get to meet until this holiday weekend, and she was very gentle all of them. As for our dogs, she made friends easily with Loki. Thor was a bit more melodramatic in establishing his role as patriarch of the group lol. Lola was our biggest challenge: she thought she was being replaced. There were 2 scuffles between Lola and Gingy but we were there both times and got it under control quickly. No injuries, more of what I call pissing matches. I had a talk with Lola [seriously] and told her she had to be nice and gentle with Gingy, since she was staying. Lola has been really trying and now they are up to tail wags and brief play. Gingy is the smallest of the bunch and I think a little nervous about the rough play between our 3, but she’s learning some new moves ❤
Ok! Since Gingy has arrived, she chewed through one mesh crate, busted through the side of a plastic one and escaped the metal crate lol. [ I flipped the latches so she can’t undo them!] She’s broken through 2 window screens and opened a window on our 2nd floor. I got a call from an unknown number last Wednesday- turns out it was the local police letting me know she was hanging out the window and he was trying to talk her into not jumping. My husband works around the corner so he made it there in record time and coaxed her back. Now all of our windows are locked to keep her from opening them ::facepalm::
She is SO sweet and I’m glad we got her. Everyone at both our jobs love her too.
