Hindo arrived at NCCR on 6/8/22, surrendered when his owner became homeless after a divorce. Hindo is an approximately 11 month old male Labrador Retriever/ Coonhound mix. We’re told that he is house trained, good with other dogs, and very friendly with people. He rides well in the car, knows some basic commands, and knows how to walk on a leash (but he can be a strong puller!). He needs continuing work on his basic obedience skills and general good manners after adoption. Hindo has been working with a professional trainer to learn better obedience skills and is making good progress, but those skills will fade if they aren’t strengthened with regular daily reinforcement. Hindo needs to be crated or confined when left alone, as he will chew items he shouldn’t – very typical behavior for a young Labrador! He is quite strong and active, so he will need a family that can give him plenty of vigorous exercise each day in addition to daily training. He is likely too strong and rambunctious for small or elderly pets or young children – he plays rough and has little sense of boundaries. Hindo does not like baths or nail clipping. He will chase cars and he is good at escaping his collar and harness, so a home with a securely fenced yard is strongly preferred. If you have time, energy, patience, and the physical ability to handle a large and rowdy dog, give Hindo a look!
If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an Adoption Application. *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far as processing your application before a home was found. We welcome you to apply again if you see another dog that interests you. If you have a question, please email your question to adoptions@caninerescue.org. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email as we receive many phone calls each day.
We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopter must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in.
*PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide as if they are incorrect, we will be unable to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone so advise your references that there may be an unknown number or a private number calling them.
Hindo is sponsored by Gracie Deike, Kathleen Hatt, Roberta Gray, Debra Beatty, Thomas and Elizabeth Tarpley, Amy Schmidt, Bob and Karen Davis, Jerry and Marilyn Bertges in memory of Mandy, Bob and Trudy Sensel, and Bob and Lorna Barrie. Thank you everyone!
