Meet Justice – an adorable boy with a past that left him wary of people. Despite his rough start in life, he’s made a whole lot of progress, and is still making small steps toward a brighter future. He arrived at NCCR in May 2021, never having had a positive experience of humans in his young life. Now around 5 years old
Justice is still gradually learning to feel a little safer in the world of humans.He accepts gentle handling, and he’s on board to share a hot dog! His journey hasn’t been easy – he came from an environment where his trust in humans was badly broken, so it’ll take time, persistence, and some TLC to help him adjust to household life like “normal” dogs. Justice is the curious type and enjoys following the volunteers around the yards. He does not display any aggression, though he’s still anxious around new people and unfamiliar situations. Justice would really benefit from a home with at least one other confident, friendly dog who can show him the ropes and be his companion. He gets along well with most dogs & loves to play. A securely fenced yard is a must for now, as it gives him the space to explore at his own pace without the pressure of a leash (leash walking is not on his list of skills just yet!). If you have the patience, understanding, time, and a willingness to help build the trust he so deserves, Justice could become your loyal pal!
*Approved applicants are welcome to participate in our popular Slumber Party program and take a dog home for up to 2 weeks to make sure he/she is a great fit.
If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an Application. *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far as processing your application before a home was found. We welcome you to apply again if you see another dog that interests you. If you have a question, please email your question to adoptions@caninerescue.org. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email as we receive many phone calls each day.
We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopter must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in.
*PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide as if they are incorrect, we will be unable to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone so advise your references that there may be an unknown number or a private number calling them.
