Lilly arrived at NCCR on 11/23/24, rescued from an overcrowded shelter that ran out of room for her. She is an approximately 2-year-old spayed female Labrador Retriever mix. We’re told that Lilly gets along well with cats, children, and other dogs, and is very friendly with people. She is a big girl at 64 lbs. – more of her to love! Lilly is young and active, so she will need a family that can provide plenty of daily exercise and play to keep her healthy and happy. More info to come as we get to know her better.
Update 12/8 from her foster home: She went into several stores with me and did really well with lots of children and adults petting her; she waited patiently for hours while we had snow tires installed; she went to a local dog park and was really polite and well mannered with a whole pack of new dogs (small and large) and she ran on trails at long point state park and stayed close to me the whole time. She is pretty much an angel indoors and outside when away from home, and everyone she met today just loved her. It was really nice to see her being so sweet with children and other dogs today.
Update 12/5 from her foster home: She is house trained and doing great now that she’s learned the schedule. She is HIGH energy and strong, and can get overly stimulated/reactive outdoors – cars, wind, critters, etc. But she’s excellent indoors where things are calmer. Doing well with 2 resident dogs.
If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an Adoption Application. *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far as processing your application before a home was found. We welcome you to apply again if you see another dog that interests you. If you have a question, please email your question to adoptions@caninerescue.org. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email as we receive many phone calls each day.
We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopter must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in.
*PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide as if they are incorrect, we will be unable to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone so advise your references that there may be an unknown number or a private number calling them.
Lilly is sponsored by Melford Swanson, David Grayson, David and Nancy DeLand. Thank you!
