Maverick is a 1-year-old recently neutered male German Shepherd. He was pulled from an over-crowded shelter and arrived at NCCR on 3/11/22. Unfortunately it quickly became apparent that Maverick was very ill with parvovirus. He spent many days being treated in the animal hospital and recuperating under veterinary care. He has now made a complete recovery. Maverick is a very sweet dog who seems to get along well with people, both adults and children. However, he is still a puppy, and has lots of puppy energy and exuberance now that he is well again. Maverick will use puppy pads, but his aim is sometimes off! He loves all the petting and cuddling he can get. Maverick tolerates (but does not enjoy) baths. As with all puppies, he will require ongoing daily exercise, activity, and playtime, continued obedience training, house training, and plenty of patience and love to help him become the best dog he can be. Maverick may require a special diet and certain medications or dietary supplements long-term due to the damage that was done to his GI tract while ill.
If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an Adoption Application. *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far as processing your application before a home was found. We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopter must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in.

Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone so advise your references that there may be an unknown number or a private number calling them.
