Michael

From his foster home: Michael is gaining confidence each day and takes cues from his foster sisters. It only took him a few days to warm up to me and start joining us on the couch. He no longer runs when I approach him. “Mikey” enjoys doing zoomies around the yard, as well as just relaxing. He can usually be found snuggling with any one or more of the dogs here. He loves to play with toys, especially outside.
Mikey has gained a little weight and needs to gain more. He is getting the hang of house training, basic commands, and has recently mastered leash walking too. Mikey will need a friendly doggie companion in his forever home, some TLC, and a little time before he feels safe. He is a good boy who responds so well to love and kindness.

Michael had the misfortune of being dumped along with 4 others. They were in rough shape, matted, dirty, and hungry, thrown away by the person who should have been taking care of them. They didn’t know it at the time, but their luck was about to change for the better. Gathered up by helping hands, they found their way to NCCR and a brighter future! This pint-sized little buddy is waiting for a family who can give him the patience, understanding, and kindness he had been lacking before. A home with another dog would be ideal; a fenced yard is required.

Before applying to adopt, read on: Important Things to Know Before Adopting a Puppy Mill Dog and The 10 cardinal rules for adopting a puppy mill survivor

If you still think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an  Adoption Application.  *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far as processing your application before a home was found. We welcome you to apply again if you see another dog that interests you.   If you have a question, please email your question to adoptions@caninerescue.org. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email as we receive many phone calls each day.

We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopter must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in.

Michael is sponsored by Peter Charette, Joe and Kate Greulich in honor of Sam and Sarge, Melford Swanson and by Doug and Joy Bartlett in memory of Lizzie. Thank you everyone!
