Polly arrived at a NCCR foster home 9/13/24, rescued from life as a breeding dog. She is a 2-year-old Cavapoo (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel/Miniature Poodle mix), weighing just over 8 lbs.
Her foster mom has this to say: “She is potty pad trained. If she’s taken outside several times a day, she doesn’t need the pads. She is very affectionate and loves to be in your lap. She loves affection, treats, and just being with her person. She gets along well with other dogs. I don’t know about cats since mine is terrified of her and won’t be in the same room. Walking Polly is no problem. On a simple loop lead, she waits until you go out the door and follows. She walks easily with you and doesn’t pull or try to wander around. If Polly can see outside, she is curious rather than anxious. If she hears stuff she can’t see (wind, birds, traffic etc.) she has a tendency to bark. If you stay calm and no big deal, she will usually quit in a minute. At night, she will bark & try to get out for a few minutes before settling down to sleep. Any unusual noise in the night will cause her to wake and bark. When I’m sitting at my desk working during the day, she goes into her crate and watches everything or sleeps – of her own volition. If I get up to go anywhere in the house, she follows. She loves fuzzy, furry, soft things – but she eats them. Watch your socks! She has learned the “leave it” command. She eats well, takes her meds very well, loves to chew on anything/everything, but overall, she’s a funny, sweet, loving little girl who just wants to be wherever you are!”
If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an Adoption Application. *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far as processing your application before a home was found. We welcome you to apply again if you see another dog that interests you. If you have a question, please email your question to adoptions@caninerescue.org. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email as we receive many phone calls each day.
We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopter must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in.
*PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide as if they are incorrect, we will be unable to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone so advise your references that there may be an unknown number or a private number calling them.
Polly is sponsored by Susane Berg, Dave and Nancy Nuzzo, Chelsea Barber, Paula E. Stern, Lisa and Jason Weaver and Diane Mogavero. Thank you so much!
