Pongo arrived at NCCR on 2/10/24, rescued from an overcrowded shelter that ran out of room for him. He is an approximately 2-year-old neutered male Dalmatian, weighing around 45 lbs.
His former foster family had this to say: He is such a good dog! I’d adopt him myself but he isn’t good with our cats; he just has so much energy that he wants to chase them and play with them and they don’t like that. He is a “Velcro dog”, very affectionate, he sleeps in the bed either behind my legs with my feet as his pillow, or in the crook of my arm like a baby. It’s the sweetest thing ever! He can be unsure of strangers, but I noticed that if someone was unsure of petting him, he would also be nervous, but if they enthusiastically got on his level first and talked to him, he was all for being petted. He has some separation anxiety. The only times he barks or pees in the house is when I crate him. He humps pillows! That will probably get better once he’s neutered. We are working on leash walking, sit, and crate training and he is definitely smart and eager to please. He is great with kids, and he loves to go for car rides.
If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an Adoption Application. *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far as processing your application before a home was found. We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopter must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in.
*PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide as if they are incorrect, we will be unable to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone so advise your references that there may be an unknown number or a private number calling them.
