August 2026 update from her foster family: Sascha is a cheerful bundle of energy, who may have been a stunt double in a previous life. Instead of taking the stairs, Sascha leaps over them. Her favorite command is “Let’s Go”, and her least favorite command is “Wait”, which she considers more of a suggestion than a rule. She loves to run off leash but doesn’t always love coming back when called.
Sascha is a take charge gal who believes walks should be a collaborative negotiation. That’s why a 2-point leash attachment is essential – she is alert to every sight and sound and may suddenly develop her own vision for the walking route. In unfamiliar places she is a cautious tourist and can become jittery and unpredictable. With new people Sascha is shy and curious but she is best kept at a respectful distance from dogs. Still, she’s proven she can live happily with the right canine roommates as long as they understand that she’s their queen.
Sascha would do best in a low-distraction neighborhood with a human who appreciates her athleticism and who understands that she can be both fiercely independent and fiercely devoted.
Sascha’s history: A very pregnant Sascha arrived at NCCR on 11/21/24, surrendered when her owner could no longer care for her. Her puppies have long since found homes and while she has a wonderful foster family she surely would love to have a forever family of her own! She is an approximately 6 year-old female mixed breed. Sascha loves people, but can be a bit shy with strangers, especially men. Sweet talk and some treats generally bring her out of her shell quickly! Show her that you’re only going to love her, and she’ll melt like ice cream in August! She has lived with another large dog, as well as children but cannot live with small dogs or cats as she will chase them. She can be a bit rude and agitated with passing dogs when out on a walk (she has a lot of opinions and doesn’t hesitate to share them, but she’s working on mending her ways with the help of her foster mom!). Sascha is house trained and knows basic commands, too. This sweet girl just wants someone to love her as she deserves! If beautiful blondes catch your eye, give Sascha a look.
If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an Application. *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far as processing your application before a home was found. We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopter must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in.
