Tucker is a courtesy listing who will remain in his current families’ home until he is adopted. He is an approximately 2 year old neutered male Shepherd/Beagle mix. Tucker is extremely friendly and loving to people, loves other dogs, and gets along with cats (although he can be too overwhelming for small pets). However, he is very strong and exuberant and will do just about anything to run after other dogs because he wants to play with them so much! He needs work on his leash skills due to his strong pulling, and he will need a family that is able to physically handle a large, strong dog. His current family describes him as friendly, playful, high energy, and loving. He thinks he is a lap dog and loves affection and snuggling. He will do tricks and knows some basic commands. Tucker is house trained and crate trained. He needs to be crated when left alone because he sometimes chew things he shouldn’t, and he does have some separation anxiety. Tucker does bark (he does have some Hound/Beagle in his breed mix!), jump, and likes to dig. The perfect home will have a strong, active, and patient person that can give him the exercise and training he needs, and has lots of time to spend with him!
As Tucker is in his current home, an appointment will be necessary for a meet and greet.
If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an Adoption Application. After you have completed your application, you will immediately get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far as processing your application before a home was found. We welcome you to apply again if you see another dog that interests you. If you have a question, please email your question to adoptions@caninerescue.org. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email as we receive many phone calls each day. Completing an application does not commit you to adopt, but please be sure that you are serious about adopting and have the time and patience to raise a puppy before you apply.
We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopter must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in.
*PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide as if they are incorrect, we will be unable to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone so advise your references that there may be an unknown number or a private number calling them.
