Meet Apricity (her name means “the warmth of sunlight in winter”)! This gorgeous girl is ready to make a fresh start in a new home – a forever home! Believed to be a mix of Labrador Retriever with a little Hound and possibly some other breeds as well, she is approximately 1 year old and full-grown. This sweet, clever, affectionate girl has just about everything that you could want in a dog – she’s gorgeous, she’s smart, and her foster family described her as “absolutely the perfect, loving dog”. She just chills in the house, sleeps in a crate all night, comes when called, is great in the car, is fully house trained, and even allows nail trims without a fuss. Her leash skills are improving with training & repetition. She’s very social with people on outings, and seems to love just about everyone she meets (well, maybe not squirrels or bunnies – she does have a bit of prey drive and likes to chase small critters, so a cat-free home is recommended). Apricity does show some resource-guarding with some toys and with food, so she will need some extra guidance & patience while she unlearns this behavior. She is active and energetic, and her new family will benefit from continuing to work on her obedience training to help her become the best dog she can be! The only thing this beauty is lacking in her life is a canine companion to hang out with. She lived with a pair of dogs in her previous home, and seems to be somewhat anxious about being left alone without anyone to keep her company, so another friendly dog is at the top of her list of preferences for her future family. This pup is ready to spend the rest of her life with a family who can give her the love and commitment she needs and deserves, and who has the patience and time to help her work through things at her own pace. She is sure to make it worth the effort!
If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an Adoption Application. *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far as processing your application before a home was found. We welcome you to apply again if you see another dog that interests you. If you have a question, please email your question to adoptions@caninerescue.org. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email as we receive many phone calls each day.
We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopter must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in.
*PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide as if they are incorrect, we will be unable to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone so advise your references that there may be an unknown number or a private number calling them.
Apricity is happy to be sponsored by BethAnn Gese, Eunice Schwert as a wedding gift for Mrs. Connie Maytum and by Debra Lucas. Thank you!
