Update from her foster mom:  There is no longer food aggression with other dogs, April can now join the pack when eating.  Dishes can be left out with leftover food to snack on.  She is also willing to share her human, attention can be given to all with no issues!  She does herd, but she will absolutely be a most devoted and loving companion.  April has now fit right into a pack of dogs of all sizes and personalities!

April is a Border Collie mix, but she has ALL of the Border Collie traits.  She is incredibly brilliant and is ready to fulfill her potential as an ambassador of her breed.  Her energy is boundless.  April is devoted to her person and will please however seems fitting.  She has to be with you, on your lap with her head on your shoulder.  She loves car rides & walks well on a leash.   April can be bossy with other dogs, yet play with them within the same time span, however with food and vying for your attention may create squabbles, she will not be placed in a home with young children.

Only Border Collie experienced need apply as this girl would do exceptionally well  in agility training, as a running partner or very active family. April NEEDS  a job!!

If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an  Adoption Application.  *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far as processing your application before a home was found. We welcome you to apply again if you see another dog that interests you.   If you have a question, please email your question to adoptions@caninerescue.org. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email as we receive many phone calls each day.

We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopter must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in.

*PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide as if they are incorrect, we will be unable to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone so advise your references that there may be an unknown number or a private number calling them.

April is kindly sponsored by Charlie Fisher, Chelsea Barber, Dan Courtine in honor of Holly and Xander, Suzanne and former NCCR residents, Tillie Mae and Bron Bron, and Rebecca Wood. Thank you!
