Hazel has become an important part of our family in a very short time although it took her a few days to warm to her new home. For the first three days Hazel rarely moved from her new dog bed, except to go to the backyard to relieve herself. She just quietly watched the comings and goings of our home. After day three, and with the help of her furry cousin Vella, we were able to get Hazel to walk across the street for a few minutes. That evening she made it to the end of the street. Now Hazel enjoys long walks on the many trails found in this area. She has met several dogs and people on these walks and is always up for a good time. When she isn’t frolicking outside she is lounging next to her buddy Cricket (another NCCR rescue) and cuddling all the humans in her life. She still needs some encouragement to eat at almost every meal, often starting her meal with a hand feeding and finding comfort in having a trusted human by her side. Hazel is about as sweet a dog as we have ever met and she is becoming more confident every day. We are very grateful that we could take her home and give her the life she deserves.
Hazel, formerly Lassie, was adopted in December, 2024.
