Xena-Adopted!

Xena-Adopted!

Xena and her companion Zeus (who has now been adopted)  were surrendered to NCCR through no fault of their own when their owner went through a separation and had to move into housing that would not allow dogs. Xena was originally rescued from a puppy mill and adopted through NCCR in 2019. She is an approximately 7-year-old female French Bulldog. She is reportedly good with dogs and cats, but is protective of her food toward other pets. Xena appears to be happier now that her companion has been adopted; she’s even been a lot more playful and relaxed. She enjoys playing with her stuffed toys. Xena still has some anxiety leftover from her life as an unsocialized puppy mill dog, and is easily startled, although she has made a lot of progress since her adoption.   She is timid around men but not to be discouraged about her going to a home that has men.  Xena would love to find a new home with a family that has experience with French Bulldogs or similar breeds. Frenchies are prone to a number of health issues, both acute and chronic, that can be quite costly to treat and manage. Please do your breed research before applying!

Xena is not currently at the Rescue. If interested, please complete and application. Arrangements will be made for meet and greets for approved applicants.

If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an  Adoption Application.   After you have completed your application, you will immediately get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far as processing your application before a home was found. We welcome you to apply again if you see another dog that interests you. If you have a question, please email your question to adoptions@caninerescue.org. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email as we receive many phone calls each day.  Completing an application does not commit you to adopt, but please be sure that you are serious about adopting and have the time and patience to raise a puppy before you apply.

We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopter must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in.

*PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide as if they are incorrect, we will be unable to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone so advise your references that there may be an unknown number or a private number calling them.
